Markas has since 1996 designed and implemented a quality management system that meets ISO 9001 standards: the aim is to ensure continuous improvement of company performance according to the “plan-do-check-act” system. Download certification Germany

With the aim of promoting awareness and understanding among our staff towards environmental issues and of continuously improving the company’s approach to the environment, Markas has designed and implemented a dedicated management system that has, since 2005, met ISO 14001 standards and now (since 2017) meets EMAS standards. We are thus committed to identifying the environmental aspects, implementing projects that will reduce the environmental impact of company activities and monitoring compliance and regulatory updates.

Staff health and safety is crucial for us. That's why Markas has implemented an occupational health and safety management system that meets ISO 45001 standards, ensuring a safe workplace and reducing health risks.

Social responsibility is one of the pillars upon which Markas stands. Operating in an ethical and transparent way towards stakeholders is a priority for the company, which has now obtained certification for its corporate social responsibility in accordance with Social Accountability 8000 standard. SA8000 is an international standard whose aim is to safeguard workers’ rights and achieve an overall improvement in working conditions.

Markas puts great emphasis on advanced education measures for its staff. As of 2017, the learning services of Markas are certified according to ISO 21001 (previously ISO 29990).

Transparency and trust are the foundations of our organization. In 2020 we have added one more certification to our portfolio; the certification ISO 37001, that together with the ‘Organizational Model 231’, certifies the company’s commitment to bribery prevention.

In 2020, Markas implemented a Compliance Management System according to ISO 19600 standards, which has since been replaced by ISO 37301, the international standard for the use of Compliance Management Systems. The Code of Conduct plays a central role in the Compliance Management System at Markas. It forms the foundation for a sustainable corporate culture that is compliant with the law and ethically oriented, to which Markas is committed holistically. Its regulations provide guidance and security in daily business operations. The integrity of the employees is a decisive building block for the success of the family business.

Markas is part of the list of companies having a Rating of legality assigned by the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM), which recognizes the effort of firms committed to adopting and promoting guidelines of ethical conduct within the company. The high standards of legality and control observed from the company’s leadership policy allowed Markas to obtain the Rating of legality with the maximum score of 3 stars.

The Family Audit certification is a management tool adopted by organizations that want to certify their continuous commitment to a favourable work-life balance as well as improve the well-being of their employees and their families. Markas started the certification process in 2022 and obtained the basic certification in March 2023.

In November 2023, Markas obtained the Gender Equality Certification (UNI/PdR 125:2022). This important recognition demonstrates the company's commitment to its employees and the importance it places in promoting an inclusive, fair and respectful work environment. With the aim of making gender equality a corporate practice, Markas started the certification process in early 2023 and shared with all employees a strategic plan with actions that will be implemented over the next three years.
