Celebrating motherhood: Markas' mums share their inspiring stories
Motherhood is an incredible journey, filled with joy, challenges, perseverance and countless meaningful moments. At Markas, we work alongside many inspiring mothers who balance their careers with the demands of family life. We asked some of them to share their unique journey of motherhood as well as their insights into the balancing act of parenting.
Andreea, Secretary to Commercial Director
"Motherhood is defined by one overwhelming feeling: 'amore' - love. It is the foundation that makes every challenge and sacrifice worth it. I have a little girl and since becoming a mother, I've learned to be more multitasking, have more patience, and set priorities.
One thing I would say to other working mums out there? When you feel that it's impossible to handle everything, don't be scared to ask friends, family or colleagues for their support. Speak up. Have strength and courage! And remember…Love always wins!''

"I have two boys, 20 and 17 years old. Throughout the years I've learned that motherhood can be pretty demanding. It's much more than physical care; it's the biggest responsibility; it's about emotional and intellectual nurturing.
Becoming a mum doesn't necessarily mean abandoning your career. Quite the opposite. It can really help you develop certain skills, re-consider your priorities and eventually find the right employer that respects your needs and your well-being.
I've been with Markas for 12 years now and to this day I still love my job. The ability to work part-time has allowed me to stay committed to my career while being present for my children. Most importantly, motherhood has taught me to manage the unexpected and to remain adaptable - skills that are invaluable both at home and at work.''
Ilaria, Head of Marketing and Communication
"Motherhood is captivating and keeps you busy. Every day brings new challenges and joys. You never take a break and you never get bored. But seeing your kids growing up and becoming great human beings is priceless. At times balancing career and family can be tricky. But by being more understanding towards each other and actively listen, we can foster great collaborations. It's important to keep an open mind and not just view things from your own perspective, but also consider the bigger picture.
I am a mum of two and since day one Markas has always respected my needs. As long as I deliver results, everyone places great trust in me. I am lucky enough to work with women that also embrace motherhood, so they genuinely understand my challenges and know how to support me. Thanks to hybrid working and flexible hours, I can maintain a fulfilling career and be there for my family.
My advice is simple: Surround yourself with people you trust, both professionally and personally. Investing in people as well as building strong relationships based on respect and mutual understanding is fundamental. ''
Martina, Team Leader Events and Hospitality
"The word 'pieno' - full - perfectly describes motherhood. It's full of love but also full of tasks, learning experiences, and responsibilities. First and foremost the responsibility to raise children that respect others and, above all, respect women, nurturing a world free of violence. How do I manage to combine family and career? Efficiency is my guiding principle, a skill that motherhood has definitely refined. Meticulous planning is essential for managing the demands of both worlds.
Returning to work was my choice, and it made me feel better knowing that I could show my son that his mum has a career, ambitions, and responsibilities beyond him. I want him to be proud of me. Although going back to work can feel strange and even bring a sense of guilt, it's important to exchange views with other mums. It helps you realize that you're not alone - others share the same thoughts and worries."
Roberta, Assistant Food Production Director
"Motherhood is all about 'amore' - a love so profound that words can't capture it. My kids have brought me immense happiness as I've watched them grow, and though they sometimes frustrate me, they make me incredibly proud. I think that being a mum has also helped me being caring at work. I look after my colleagues - just like I look after my kids -, and I stay proactive in anticipating and solving any challenges that come our way.
Of course the motherhood journey hasn't always been simple. So, finding an employer that can offer me flexible working hours and a lot of understanding, has been crucial, especially during my years as a single mother.
Overall, my advice to other parents out there is to focus on quality over quantity in both family and career. Be fully present in each moment, whether with your family or colleagues, and strive to keep things separate."
Laura, Food Production Cost Analyst
"Motherhood is complexity in its most beautiful form. It challenges you to be an expert planner and a prioritization wizard. Markas' flexible working hours have been a lifeline, allowing me to juggle deadlines and family time without compromise. So, for anyone wondering about managing family and career, remember: strategic planning is your strongest ally.
Trust your instincts and don't let anyone judge you for your decisions, whether it's to have children or not. Being a mum is a beautiful experience but the most wonderful thing about motherhood is the spontaneous hug and kiss from my little daughter. In those moments, all my worries disappear, and everything feels perfect."
