A journey of determination and inclusion: Jasminka's story
Stories of personal growth and dedication inspire and drive us every day. Today, we are sharing the journey of Jasminka, a remarkable person who embodies the spirit of determination and inclusion.
From cleaning worker to Regional Manager
Originally from Bosnia, Jasminka moved to Austria with her three-week-old son in 1993, seeking new opportunities and a better future. Before moving to Austria, Jasminka had completed her A-levels in economics in Bosnia, a field completely unrelated to cleaning, as she never intended to pursue a career in this field. Upon her arrival in Austria and after briefly working in the catering industry, she joined Markas as a cleaning worker.
Now, nearly 21 years later, her journey showcases the unexpected paths that dedication, resilience and an inclusive work environment can lead to. Today Jasminka proudly serves as a Regional Manager, overseeing a team of more than 700 employees in Lower Austria.
Championing inclusion
Having experienced firsthand the powerful and transformative impact of an inclusive work culture within Markas, now Jasminka is not just a leader; she is an advocate of inclusion. In her region, she actively supports 5 employees with disabilities and 10 colleagues from Ukraine, embodying the core values of the company. Her advocacy and dedication ensure that Markas remains a place where everyone can thrive regardless of their background.
'My grandmother always told me: 'Svaki covjek je vrijedan onoliko koliko ti zelis da njegovu vrijdnost vidi' which means every person is worth as much as you want to see and recognize' Jasminka remembers.
